Faith is the substance of
things hoped for (the obtainment of our desires),
the evidence of things not seen (proof of spiritual existence). Hebrews
11:1
hope is the assurance that promises are fulfilled.
We receive faith thru hearing (listening to Gods word being
proclaimed in every way) and hearing (The Holy
Spirit affirming in our hearts what we already know to be true) by the word of God. Romans 10:17
…he who comes
to God believes that He is….. Hebrews
11:6
Faith is conviction of truth.
Faith is voluntary surrender of life to Gods will. A good example is when
Thomas called Jesus …My Lord and My God! John
20:28
Faith is trusting
God.
PRAYER
Faith is increased when our
prayers are answered. So, the greater proof we have in spiritual existence is
made evident in our answered prayer that was known only to God.
Ask, and it shall
be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matt.7:7
Search the Scriptures.
Bible study builds faith when
we discover that those things that we knew to be just and correct were proven
to us when we found confirmation in the word of God. And
that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make
thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.. II
Tim. 3:15 These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and
searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts
17:11
Fellowship
Fellowship with believers
build faith when we can use their life examples, along with our own, to
discover the faithfulness of God towards us.
And daily in the temple, and
in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. Acts 5:42
Stewardship
Stewardship builds faith when
we test God and find that we are blessed beyond our cost when we properly care
for and share what He has given us. Matt 25:4-29
Obedience
Obedience builds faith when
we see for ourselves that God will keep His word to us when we are obedient to
Him. By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out
into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he
went out, not knowing whither he went. Hebrews 11:8
